Making The ‘Uravelling Woolburys’

It’s taken all day but the Wilburys are finally finished. Here are three of them!

 photo wilbs2.jpg

Then the tricky bit…..

Graduated shades printed onto sticky vinyl, which was then mounted on to a plastic film. Cut out glasses shape, with a tab on the side with a hole in it to sew through and attach.  Looks simple but it was tricky to cut out.. Mark did it with a scalpel.

 photo wilbs1.jpg

It worked…..All finished.

 photo wilbs4.jpg

The sunglasses worked out well. In this picture they look Photoshopped on.. but they are definitely not!

ps. Here are the Sgt. Pepper Beatles with their fab new backdrop.

Sunday is Beatles Day

I’m excited to be displaying some Beatles on Sunday at the next London Beatles Day.

The back ground I think are what doing to make them stand out and look great. Thank you so much to Mark Morgan for finding the Abbey Road cover (with just Paul and Ringo) and painstakingly clone stamping out Paul & Ringo! It makes it look very realistic and properly three-dimensional.

The Sgt Pepper guys have one too!

… and the Wilburys!
 photo Photo0156.jpg

I have two days to finish all five of the Wilburys. There are a couple tricky details to master which I haven’t done before, but I’m hoping to get dark sunglasses to work!
Wish me luck!

Who’s who!?

I hastily took this  quick ‘work in progress’ picture last night…I have so many Rockers on the go that it’s really ridiculous to think about finishing them all in one batch together. Id be here until Christmas!

I think Jane Fate was bewildered by who they all could be, so….

Ok…any guesses??  Answer below , don’t worry!

Jack….. in print!

Well… Yesterday was exciting! The tour review I wrote with Jane Fate was Published in ISIS magazine!

We did think that it was very brave of  Derek to print it  with comments from Jack and it was fun to write as a dialogue.

Here’s a picture me (Liz), Jack & the article standing in a doorway.. as you do!
 photo isisliz_zps8f41ff25.jpg

The article  features some lovely colour pictures of the tour. All blogged here, too…

And this is my lovely friend Melanie who took the picture.

She’s marvelling at Jacks amazing flexibility (in the middle of Baker Street) !

“One last thing… perhaps the most important of all…. you have to learn to get attention of your audience!”

Yes…. We all deserve a drink.. Thanks Jack!

Jack Fate on the Town!

Last night  we were a little early for Burt Bacharah at the Royal Festival Hall, so… after a bite of sushi in Embankment Gardens we went to hang out in the Savoy alley with the new Jack Fate. He was a  bit bewildered and he thought he’d been there before and was kidding us about time travelling…

 photo alleyay_zpse8d6db05.jpg

He met a couple of fans in the alley who were also scouting Bob locations around London. Unfortunately they didn’t have a camera so I took a couple of pictures of them in the Bob/Ginsberg poses and had a chat…

 photo alleymates2_zps6db3eece.jpg

Guys… leave your email in the comments here or get in touch (woollyrockers@gmail.com) and I’ll email you the pictures. I took 2 for you.

We arrived at the Royal Festival Hall…. Jack thought he might have been there too but couldn’t quite remember ..possibly 1965? He was a bit far back..

Afterwards, Jack wanted to take a walk around the South Bank:

 photo LondonRoyalfestivalhallevening3_zpsbbdd3ae4.jpg

Jack and the Spirit on the Water. He liked Big Ben and thought he might like to go inside but he wasn’t too keen on the current government. He’d do better himself.

Shame the National Gallery was closed.. maybe next time?

Jerry Garcia….

I said a while ago that I’d like to try and make a Jerry Garcia in wool… because I think he’d work really well & I’m a fan.

Here is the Real Jerry Garcia & Tiger (Custom Guitar)

I think he turned out pretty well! Jerry has a black T-shirt, Jeans, sneakers and dark denim shirt, glasses & guitar.

Tiger…. I tried to do the skeleton as well as I could at very small sale.

Now that I have a Jack Fate I can play too! See Jack needs booze, lemons, toast, eggs and cards… for gambling!

Other Jack-related developments. Last week I went to Amsterdam for a Blythe doll show and stayed with some lovely friends Mark & Marcella…

The lovely Marcella at Oh My Lucky Stars Design made a very special custom necklace featuring our favorite Mr Fate.

It’s a very special unique, one off present for Jane F.    🙂
