Valentine Extravaganza!!!

I really enjoy making for Valentines Day and this year I started earlier than ever before. I loved shopping for fabric with hearts to make cute skirts and ordering buttons.

I’ve made more of the classic sweater & skirt sets in lots of colour combinations: Black, white, pink, grey, red and some new dresses. I like these smock dresses with buttons. Well, any excuse to buy cute buttons!

I may do some more Jumper dresses with flared sleeves and a roll collar in the next week or so but Ive really enjoyed making these. Please take a look here at Esty.

Then after that I feel something green & flowery for Spring coming on…..

Been trying out a few new designs….

1. Smiley Face 2. Panda Face 3. Flower Buttons 4. Argyle

The other thing I’m happy I figured out is a proper A-Line dress shape. This is the first try with Austen Powers style crochet ruffle and collar trim in angora yarn.

I really wanted to figure out how to knit Union Jack!

I’m very happy with how these came out. I’ve only used red and white for background colours so far because they feature in the design already. Different colours would mean a lot of stranding going on at the back. So, I’m pretty happy with these.

I also tried out one Owl design……

I’m working on a few more of these!

Give us a Wave…..

I was flicking through my copy of Debbie Stoller’s “Stitch ‘n Bitch Superstar” this week. The tiny detail that caught my eye and inspired these Wave print dresses was the chart for the ‘Life Aquatic’ yoke sweater pattern – just the few lines of waves….

It’s a pretty simple shift dress but I like the effect. I might try more adding more colours. Maybe three!? I did thing about sleeves but couldn’t decide which would work, so they remain sleeveless!

After quite a bit of extensive picture research I found a number of variations on the theme. These are really fun to make…. if a bit logistically complex with up to seven balls of yarn involved in the classic one with blue (2 x black to make the vertical & horizontal stripes)

Little My! I have always liked Little My. I’ve seen soft toys but I thought I’d try to make one myself. (I know I have her hands the wrong colour – they should be black. I’ll fix that next time if I make any more. She was so much fun to make! ;

Make Do & Mend

In the true spirit of making do & mending…. I think I’ve saved myself about £6.00 for a new replacement watch strap by fudging a new band with a bit of vintage braid.
I like it. It’s cheap, cheerful and unique.
